Nowadays, it seems like you have to spend a lot of money in order to have fun. But what if I told you, you don’t have to choose between having fun and saving money? Yes. It’s possible to save money while having fun with these 6 tips.
Go Outside
Nature offers a ton of endless options to have fun on a budget. You can take a hike, go out for a picnic, plan a camping trip, play volleyball, and the list could go on. Honestly, I put this fun free outing first, because not only is it light on the wallet, but you will feel refreshed after doing it.
Planning Your Meals
Eating out is one of the biggest ways to deplete your “having fun” budget. So leave that for special occasions. You can still have fun cooking at home. Usually when you buy food to cook, the smallest portion is enough for two people. Invite a friend over. Or if you want leftovers, make it fun, try a new recipe. And to save even more money, plan your meals. For even more benefits and how to do so here are “3 Basic Steps To Plan Your Meals”.
DIY Projects
This is my second favorite way to save money while having fun. If you’re a crafter like me, then you understand that there are budget friendly DIY projects that are waiting to be made. You can repurpose items in your home like vases or pillow covers. Or make your own basket or crate for storage. Not only will you save money but you’ll gain a sense of accomplishment.
Rewards Programs
Loyalty cards, cash back credit cards, and store/restaurant apps can be your best friend. These programs can make your dollar go further. You can rack up points to cash out for gift cards, free items, or anyones favorite MONEY! Trust me, those points come in handy when you want your FREE favorite drink, snack, or meal.
At Home Entertainment
Although I’m a true introvert, I enjoy hosting game night. Usually, I provide the main dish and whoever I invite, they bring sides so the cost is not all on you. You can also host a movie night or a “just because” potluck dinner. Not only are you saving money while having fun, you are creating lifelong bonds with friends and family members.
Smart Spending
Think about what you’re buying and the reason behind it. There’s nothing wrong with treating yourself from time to time. But by practicing smart spending, buying what you need vs. what you want, you will be able to save money for the things that truly matter, like having fun.
By making smart choices and getting creative with your activities, you will have fun. So use this as a guide to save money while having fun.
