How To Organize A Small Pantry

If you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all, the organization shows that completely transform pantries into aesthetic yet functional rooms. But most of the time it’s been nothing but the most spacious ones. What about the rest of us who have small pantries? They deserve some organization love too.

5 EASY STEPS TO ORGANIZE A SMALL PANTRY

DECLUTTER

Let’s face it, we all do it. Especially when there is no system in place we tend to overbuy and over cram because we can’t see what we really have. In turn contributing to the unorganized chaos. That’s why decluttering is so essential. When decluttering you will probably come across so many items that have expired because it was wedged behind a big bag of chips or stacks of cans.

Donate food that you will never use to organize a small pantry.

Getting rid of all the expired food items and donating ones that you realistically won’t use will free up so much space for the food that you will actually eat.

GROUP LIKE ITEMS TOGETHER

Organize like items together on each shelf to organize a small pantry.

Grouping items into zones, will dramatically cut down on the clutter and disorganization of any pantry, especially a small one. When you group like items together, you will effectively know what you have and what you don’t have. So when grocery day comes and you need to make a list, you can simply look into your pantry, look at your zones and know immediately what you need so that you don’t over buy and you don’t over cram.

USE STORAGE BINS

Not only are bins my best friend but they are a pantries best friend. Not only can they help any pantry look organized and aesthetically pleasing, but they are made in a way to use space that otherwise couldn’t be used.

There are stackable bins to help you use the vertical space in between shelving that you would’ve missed out on. You have bins that will hold tea bags, cans, kid sized snacks, candy bars, and the list can go on.

I suggest that for most of your items use a clear bin so that you can easily see what is stored in them unless you want some of your pantry items hidden.

Most cereal comes in big bulky containers. You can down size the bulk by storing it in a cereal container. Which will help to organize a small pantry.

Lazy susans allows you to store multiple bottles, jars, canned goods, or even spices to where you can effectively and effortlessly reach them.

If bins are not your style you can uses baskets. If your items are small or short be sure to label your basket since they are not see through.

USE VERTICAL SPACE

This tip goes along with the use of storage bins. Stackable bins help you to use space that otherwise wouldn’t be used, so you can get the most out of your small pantry.

Stack jars on top of each other to maximize vertical space.

If you don’t want to use a bin or don’t have room to put another one in your pantry, you can simply stack your items on top of each other such as jars or canned goods. You are still using your vertical space effectively. And it will still look organized.

USE FLOOR SPACE

Floor space is valuable real estate in a small pantry. This is where you can put any items that are overstock or that you don’t use as much. You can store things like a crockpot, unopened box of snacks, or cases of bottled water.

If you don’t like the idea of anything touching the floor you can even use storage bins to store your overstock items.

So as you can see there is hope for small pantries in the world. Although you might have to become more creative to organize a small pantry, it’s not impossible to get function, organization, and an aesthetic looking pantry all in one.
