Refresh Your Home For Spring

As the sun starts to shine and the flowers bloom. It’s time to declutter, simplify, and the most fun DECORATE! No, you don’t have to live the minimalist life in order to enjoy a fresh start. Here are some decorating tips to refresh your home for spring.

Declutter

Get rid of “ things” you don’t need. Clutter is what makes a home feel dark and closed off. Donating or trashing your unwanted items will immediately make your home feel more open and lighter. Which is really important in order to refresh your home for spring. Here are 5 tips to make decluttering easier in my blog “How To Declutter”.

Bring The Outside In

There are 2 simple ways you can do this. If you’re into the florals, change up your dark decor with ones with floral prints on them. You can change up decor pieces like curtains, pillows on your couch/bed, or vases with fresh or fake flowers (my personal favorite because they don’t die).

-OR-

If that’s not your style, add more natural earthy decor into your home. Instead of flowers in your vase put decorative branches. As accents, you can use a woven basket to hold blankets or wooden side tables & picture frames.

Color Scheme

Pick colors that you see outside your window. During spring we mainly see pastel or neutral colors. Bring those in, in order to mimic that refreshing spring like essence. Paint an accent wall in pink, lavender, or sage green.

Another option is wallpaper with floral prints. You can get those prints in both neutral/pastel colors. This will add a nice pop to your room. Or if you’re not into that much color or pattern, paint your walls white to get that crisp fresh look, while sprinkling in accents of spring pastels in your decor.

DIY Decor

This is what I call shop your home. Instead of buying new decor see what you can repurpose that you may have stashed away. You can take old fabric and make new pillow covers. Or you can spray paint an old jar or vase and now you have a new one for spring.

There’s no right or wrong way to refresh your spring. So use this as a guide to help you get that fresh, airy, & inviting feel into your home.
