I wrote four blogs on how to spring clean your bedroom, living room, bathroom, and house. But not every clean needs to be a spring or deep clean. So here is a basic cleaning routine for every day cleaning.
Have regular tidy sessions
I’m a big fan of these. These will make your daily or weekly cleans so much more manageable. Because what do we have to do before we clean, put things where they go, tidy up. So if you get into a routine of doing a tidy in the morning or before bed it will cut down on your cleaning time. For some ideas read my blog 10 Minute Tidy.
Start with your innermost room & work your way out
This helps you to not backtrack. If you found something that needs to go in the already cleaned room, since it’s cleaned and organized, you will know exactly where it goes.
Clean from top to bottom, left to right
This helps you to not clean something that you already did. Start with the highest thing like a shelf. Work your way down starting from the left side of the room so nothing is missed. The very last thing you clean should be your floors.
Pick a room and do a deep clean
Your weekly or daily clean doesn’t have to be all out get on your hands and knees clean, unless you have the time for it. This is just a basic cleaning routine. But deep cleans are beneficial so try tackling a room a month.
Develop a routine that works for you
You can create one either daily or weekly. Create a cleaning routine that allows you to get things accomplished versus having unrealistic cleaning expectations and trying to cram everything into one day.
In the end, there’s not a wrong way when it comes to having a basic cleaning routine. But having this as a guide will allow you to clean more effectively.
