There’s nothing like working in the comfort of your own home. Although you have a lot of advantages, it does come with some challenges. Challenges that can sack your motivation and productivity.
Here are six things you can do to prevent that:
Set Realistic Goals
Do you have any short or long-term work goals? If you do, write them down. Then break down those goals into doable, steps or tasks. Having a plan, helps you to be focused and to feel accomplished when you check them off.
Create A Routine
I am a big advocate for routines. Routines are not a one size fits all, they are customizable. Create a routine that fits according to your personality. If you’re morning person set your work hours during that time. Or if you are more of a night person like me, start later in the day. Whatever you may be, having a set routine of work hours will encourage a healthy, work life balance. Here’s how to “Create A Routine That Will Stick”.
Celebrate Reaching Your Goals
Working from home, takes being a self motivator. So when you achieve your goals, whether they are big or small, congratulate yourself. Reward yourself with a treat. You work hard you deserve it!
Take Breaks
And I don’t mean “working” breaks. Schedule short breaks throughout your day to recharge your mind and prevent burnout. Do something that refresh you like a walk outside in your neighborhood, do some stretches, or have a craft session.
Be Adaptable
I believe at any job, whether you work from home or not, change is inevitable. So welcome it, and when it does come, put steps into place to achieve your new goals.
Create A Motivating Workspace
I started off working from home on my dining room table. In the beginning it worked, but it didn’t do much for my productivity in the long run. Create an area, big or small and personalize it, make it your own. Choose muted or vibrant colors. Adding plants, fake or real, will liven up the space. You can even add motivational quotes. Any of these options will help energize you.
Like I mentioned earlier, in order to work from home, you have to be a self motivator. But you don’t have to go at it alone. By trying any of these suggestions, it will make your work from home experience a satisfying one.
