Life is busy! There is no way around it. But there are things you can do to help you relax. I’ve come up with 15 ways that either I have done or I know others have done to help you relax.
Drink Herbal Tea
Tea is a healthy, natural drink that you could enjoy anytime of the day. Since herbal tea is non-caffeinated, it will relax you.
Some favorites of mine are chamomile, peppermint, or lemongrass. Some others that my friends and family enjoy that will relax you are hibiscus and ginger.
Drink it before bed or at the end of a workday. You will feel the calming effects right away.
Take A Walk
If you work from home or in an office building all day, on your lunch, if possible, take a walk.
Breathe in some fresh air, take time to look at your surroundings. Focus on the trees, flowers, birds, etc. By focusing on nature, you can’t help but to be relaxed.
Go To A Park
This is similar to take a walk. When I’m not satisfied with walking around my apartment complex, and I want to be engulfed with nature without buildings, the park is my option.
It’s quieter and there’s more to appreciate. It even smells better!
Listen To Music
Music has the ability to change your mood. It can make us happy, sad, anxious, and so forth.
Some genres of music that can relax you are classical, jazz, R&B, and country. Basically some slow tempoed or storytelling type of music.
Listen To A Podcast
Podcasts are very popular right now. And your choices are limitless. There are self-improvement podcasts, like mine, Living Balanced Life.
There are podcasts about nutrition, mental health, traveling, how to’s, and so much more. Just make sure to not pick one that would cause your anxiety to go up, like a mystery podcast.
You can listen to them on your lunch, while cleaning, or while driving.
Working Out
Having a healthy workout routine, can boost your endorphins, which help you to feel better. Doing it at the beginning of your day can and will set the tone for your day.
Working out allows you to feel more relaxed throughout the day. And it allows you to be able to get some frustrations out, which will relax anyone.
Talking To A Friend
There is nothing like talking to someone who loves and understands you for who you are. I have a select few friends, who I like to talk to that always make me feel better.
Although talking may not necessarily solve the issue. But being able to release what’s on your mind and heart, can relax you. And it may help things not seem so big.
Watch A Funny Movie
Romantic comedies always put me in a good mood. My husband likes to make fun of me because I can binge watch the same movie for a month or maybe even longer. If it makes you feel good or laugh, why not?
Sew Or Crochet
My mom and my grandmother taught me how to sew when I was younger. Although I don’t do it anymore, I remember how much it relaxed me. I felt accomplished because I was able to make something.
Being able to focus on some thing else, being able to create some thing with my hands, helped to relax me. And I know if you have similar interests, it will help to relax you too!
Drawing, Coloring, Painting
Although I’m in my 30s, I still love to color, and surprisingly it’s relaxing. I wish I could do more than that but unfortunately, I didn’t get the drawing gene from my mother.
But being able to express yourself by drawing, coloring, or painting, can have a relaxing effect, since it’s something you enjoy.
Once again, it’s a break that your mind can take off of reality.
Get A Pedicure Or Manicure
Getting my nails done makes me feel special. Even though I also get them done for my business, since I show my hands a lot on social media, it’s an hour that I have for myself.
It makes me feel good. And if that is something that you like to do, I suggest that you take that small time out of your day to treat yourself!
Sit In Peace And Quiet
If you have the circumstance when you come home from work, just sit and destress. Be comfortable with just being in silence.
Nothing special has to be done. Just enjoy your comfy couch!
Read A Book/Listen To E-books
Once again, this is something that allows your mind to take a break. There are so many types of books you can choose from. Mystery books, art books, self-help books, the Bible, and more.
My favorite part about reading is either I picture the time frame that the book was written in. Or I picture of myself being there.
I personally like reading the Bible, because when I do, it helps me to look forward to a more positive future, which undoubtedly would relax anyone.
Reading is a healthy, nice break from reality.
Get A Massage
Massages not only relax you, but there’s a lot of other health benefits from getting one. Not only can it relax your muscles, but it can help to reduce blood pressure and it gets rid of unwanted toxins in our bodies.
Start off by making it a monthly goal if you can afford it. You won’t regret it if you do!
Essential Oils
I love using essential oils. I have an oil diffuser in which I usually use peppermint, lavender, or lemongrass essential oils.
Sometimes I use it at the beginning of the day, if I feel a little anxious. But most the time I like to use them before bed.
I like to set up my oil diffuser in my room, turning it on before I go to bed. So that when it’s time, my room is filled with the aroma.
You can use essential oils at anytime of the day. You can make your own DIY essential oil roller that you can keep in your pocket or purse.
Simply roll it on your wrists or your temples and it will help to relax you.But just a word of caution, certain essential oils can relax you so much that they can put you to sleep.
So do your research and be smart WHEN you use them!
We get so caught up in our every day lives that we don’t think about ourselves, and how simple it is to do something for ourselves. So I hope this has inspired or encouraged you to take some time out for yourself today.
If this has helped you or you can relate let me know in the comments!
